About/Contact

A Lawyer by training but an Artist by Inclination.

PAT A2 About/ContactI was born in the UK and moved to New Zealand via Africa when in my teens.   I had wanted to do art, but my family insisted on a ‘proper job’, so I worked hard and went to University.

After I qualified, I practised law in government in Wellington, tramping the high country of Central NZ at weekends and holidays to keep my sanity, and creating, exhibiting and selling art in my spare time. Here is the place to check out my Wilderness Art.

I now live in the Far North of New Zealand.  My dad died prematurely in 1985, and rather than sell the family property, which I love, I gave up a good job and moved into the country, stepping into his shoes on a 10 acre lifestyle block with a big house that he and my mom had been half way through building themselves when he got sick  He said we would have to sell it after he died. Well, we hired a builder and got the house pretty much finished so we could live here – but that’s another story.

Sadly, my mom was overtaken by Alzheimers not long after I’d started a small graphic design and desktop publishing business in our nearest small town.  That forced another change in my plans.

For the next 10 years I looked after her sole charge, until she passed away early in 2007.  There were some dark times in those years, but thankfully I had the Internet. Driven by the knowledge that I just had to find a way to earn from home, I used my graphics skills to freelance on the net, and in 2004 Cagora became one of my main clients, as well as being my favorite place – a venue where I could make some good friends and without leaving my mother’s side I could feel useful in the world.  That’s important when you have become “the carer”.

Check out my Portfolios to see some of the many graphics projects I’ve been involved with in the course of this journey.

  14. Aside from official ranks such as officers and raid leaders, there are plenty of niche roles that guild users can tumble into. I’m just personally of the opinion that every guilds may benefit from using a chosen whipping boy to call their very own. You understand who I’m referring to. Everybody cracks jokes at their expense. Failures are blamed on him, even when he’s not logged in. From the outsider’s viewpoint, it may appear suspiciously just like everybody hates him!
